A quality life, dental implants make it possible
Dental Implants have been around since the 50s, and is a predictable and successful treatment. Moreover, they help to restore confidence, health and function rejuvenating teeth and smiles. On the general topic of what is an implant, see information here. This page will cover aspects related to recent advances in dental implant.
Information related to recent advances in dental implant technology, is more difficult to research over the internet. In the past, dental implants have primarily been “incision based” or commonly known amongst the industry as, “free hand” (describing that they are placed according to the dentist’s experience and discretion). With the advent of technology, the vast majority of implants today are being done “Guided”. That is, using technology, to produce a plan before the appointment, and to use this plan to accurately and safely complete the procedure. The benefits of Guided Dental Implants are many, see table below.
With less discomfort and superior post-operative result, we see Guided Implants as an obvious permanent solution to replace missing teeth. Please speak with your dental professional to see if this option is suitable for you.
At ABC Dental, we have provided Guided Implants since 2015, and were one of the first surgery in Sydney to embrace this next chapter of implant excellence.
Lastly, its important to reiterate that Guided Implant technique has greatly eliminated inter-operator (dentist) variability, and the reliance on “experience” as the key measure of success. Think of the days when riding a horse was a primary method of transport, verus now driving a car which is both safer, more predictable and consistent. Dental Implant treatment, combined with key hole surgery, is the latest in implant dentistry, and can provide the perfect solution to teeth replacement.
Expertise In Implants is Important
Notwithstanding the above, expertise is important when one considers any medical procedure. Most people tend to think of expertise solely as the experience of the clinician. In truth, it should also encompass other factors which influence or enable the clinician to provide the best implant care. These include, on-site availability of modern /advanced equipment, and the freedom in choice of implant brands (discussed more below). These three factors are worthwhile discussing further.
1.Experience Of The Clinician
The experience of the clinician matter. You should speak with your dental professional about their experience and training around implants. At ABC Dental, not all of our clinicians provide implant treatment. Those that do, often have completed advanced training, and many have completed further degrees with the sole focus of training on implants.
2. Technology Equipment and Dental Laboratory
Technology and equipment to enable improved technical delivery of implant care matters. A long time ago, it was expected that a patient would go to a radiology clinic, then return to discuss the results. Other times, they would also have to go to a dental lab, then return and see the results. At ABC Dental CBD (our Centre of Excellence for Implants), we have everything at the one convenient location. No longer do you have to make separate trips to a radiology clinic and dental laboratory for implants. With ABC they are both located within our premises.
This does not only mean fewer trips, but more importantly the communication between various third party entities are eliminated. When everything is done together, and in house by the one brand, the quality of the experience and technical excellence, is improved. Due to the cost to acquire capital equipment such as CBCT, digital scanners, and a dental laboratory, few dental clinics would have the capability to house all of these in the one location. At ABC CBD, we are able to provide this for our patients.
3. Freedom in Choice of Implant Systems
Whilst no clinical study definitively prove one system of implant is superior to another. We believe in providing the freedom of choice. A quick internet search will reveal many different brands of implants, with different country of manufacture, proclaimed technology associated with its implant designs, and corresponding cost. At ABC Dental, we believe in offering a choice to patients, and thus support many different implant systems. This is difficult to do for many other practices, due to the cost of acquisition of different implant system equipment (because nothing in implant dentistry is, by default, compatible with one another). Furthermore, this enables your dental professional to provide the best care possible, to tailor the right implant for your clinical situation, and to use implants which they are most familiar with, and have have the most clinical success. Speak with your dental profession about which implant system is most suitable for you.
At ABC, that’s our promise to you, to always provide better care. See below just a selection of the brands we frequently support.
Last but not least, as ABC support many different implant systems. We are frequently asked to complete crown for patients who had their implant placed done elsewhere. We can restore many different implants, irrespective of which brand / country you have had the procedure We are equipped with a wide array of equipment to service around 98% of implants on the market.

AVERAGE fee FOR A DENTAL IMPLANT
Dental Implants prices range between $4000 - $8000 in metropolitan Sydney. There is often confusion over the pricing, as some prices are “All Inclusive” (both implant and crown), whilst others are displayed as “Implant Only”. Be sure to ask if the pricing includes implants and crown, and which technique (guided or incision based) is used by the dentist.
At ABC Dental, our implants are $6000 including both implants and crown.
For clinical situations where a lack of bone support is available, other bone regenerative procedures maybe required. This will be a separate fee to the implant. Please ask your dental professional if this applies to your individual situation.
Any surgical or invasive procedure carries risks. Before proceeding, you should seek an opinion from an appropriately qualified health practitioner.
